Challenge: Development of a web crawler for data storage
As Companylinks is currently still managed by a small team and the processes and tasks in the area of data management are time-consuming, they tie up a large proportion of resources. In an effort to further automate company processes and develop
and further develop digitalization, we are striving for a fully automated platform that allows matching suggestions to be retrieved digitally and in real time. The challenge within this project is the development of another product. This should collect industry-specific information with the help of a web crawler and an indexing tool.
Aim of the challenge
The aim is to develop a web crawler that stores the collected data ready for retrieval. This data is then to be automatically output in report form by entering certain factors such as industry, region and time period.
Provision of data & infrastructure
Companylinks provides a sample data set that reflects the data of the entire platform. Confidential data as well as names, companies and locations are concealed. Companylinks is happy to provide a workstation on request. For committed and particularly outstanding students, we offer the possibility of an internship.
Expected skills of teachers and students
We expect teachers and students to be highly motivated and enthusiastic about this project. We hope that teachers will be able to implement their curriculum with the help of the task we have set and that students will achieve their learning objectives effectively. The resulting experience should help all parties involved to make progress on the problem. Desirable areas of interest and experience of the students are in the fields of business administration, economics, finance or marketing.
Project duration
The plan is to carry out the core project in one semester with subsequent support, adaptation and development in a second semester. There should be regular, iterative coordination throughout the entire project phase.
