In the course of the constant digital transformation of society, science and the economy and the associated growing flood of data and increasing complexity in all areas, the competent and critical handling of data marks a central competence for students of all disciplines. Data literacy, i.e. the basic skills for a critical understanding and implementation of data collection, storage, processing, analysis and visualization processes as well as for reflecting on contemporary data practices, is one, if not the central prerequisite for individual participation in a world shaped by digitality.
With this in mind, we support students from all disciplines in developing their digital and data skills within the framework of independent projects and in acquiring additional skills in scientific work and research-based learning.
- In the 1st phase, 8 projects were selected to receive funding from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.
- In the 2nd funding round, the jury decided on 6 projects to be supported from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
- The 3rd round of calls for proposals resulted in 10 student projects that will be funded from October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
- The 4th and final call for proposals ran from 15 April to 31 May 2024 and the applications are currently being assessed by the selection committee.
In total, we are supporting 62 students in 24 project groups, who will be able to work intensively on their own chosen, data-driven topics and thus individually expand their expert knowledge and digital and data skills.
