Ankerplatz Stade e.V.: Data-based optimization of the service
Self-description of the partner
Ankerplatz Stade is a maritime village of converted shipping containers and a real-life laboratory for the marketplace of the future on the approximately 6000m² "Platz am Sande". The project has been nominated for the StartSocial national award and is one of the flagship projects of the 100x digital program of the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering.
Challenge: Data-based optimization of the anchorage
Ankerplatz tries to use digital tools in such a way that they stimulate community processes instead of preventing them. The "Become a villager now" campaign was launched to create a sense of togetherness and community spirit. After registering on the website, followed by personal verification on site, interested parties receive a digital ID for their smartphone. This enables access to the online area, the booking of containers and sharing offers (bicycles, rental box, etc.). There are also plans to integrate payment options including discount and voucher campaigns. The association is using the Cheyns system from Tobit, which has already gained a lot of experience with the "Ahaus digital" program. Question: How can the Ankerplatz's current offering be optimized? To answer the question, a mix of existing and yet-to-be-collected data should be used. For example, an evaluation of the anonymized data of the villagers already provides initial orientation values (age, gender, total number of users, number of booked activities, interactions, etc.). This data should be supplemented by quantitative or qualitative survey methods in order to create further opportunities for optimization.
Aim of the challenge
The aim of the project is to improve the Ankerplatz offer in a targeted manner. The data collection and evaluation offers the opportunity to prove the effectiveness of the concept and at the same time counteract undesirable developments. The target state is to reactivate the original function of marketplaces. In addition to a significant increase in footfall, the aim is to create a village community that is as lively and diverse as possible. To this end, specific milestones are to be defined as objectives based on initial experience. The project offers a wide range of opportunities to promote skills, as all process steps must be completed, from the ability to record and collect data through to presentation and visualization.
Provision of data & infrastructure
Some of the data shown is available in the association - all that remains to be done is to discuss data protection-compliant anonymization procedures with Tobit. The use of laptops or an internet connection can be provided, and the so-called Planbude can be used as office space from 2023 at the latest.
Expected skills of teachers and students
The project offers the potential to involve a wide range of skill and competence levels. Previous experience is helpful, but not essential.
Project duration
One or two semesters.
